This week, I want to start off with a verse, “In those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered. This was the first registration when Quirinius was governor of Syria. And all went to be registered, each to his own town.” Luke 2:1-3 2000 years ago Caesar Augustus was taking a count of the world under his power. God moved in such a mighty way that it changed the course of humanity. He sent His Son Immanuel (God with us). He came and dwelt among men. Well, President Trump is counting everyone under the power of the United States with the 2020 Census. I believe even with all that is going on that God is going to move in a mighty way. He is and will move in an undeniable way. I believe He is allowing this virus to pass through the entire world and He is saying wake up. Even with all of the technology we have, we can’t stop the virus from spreading. I believe God is saying wake up and look up, yall have never had control over this world, it has always been under Mine and I want to know you. Look at the beauty of this world, we broke this world when we sinned. One day, He will make a better earth that does not compare to the former glory of this earth we broke. We can’t even cure the virus yet, but at the end of time He will cure death, at least the physical death. The second death will be worse than the first if you reject God, He will separate you from Him forever. That is why it is important to make sure that you know Him and trust that He died and rose again for your sins. When you believe that and ask Him to come into your heart, the Holy Spirit comes to dwell in you and guide you. During this time as the virus rules our lives, the spirit of fear is trying to scream over the Holy Spirit and the Holy spirit is saying Wake up and look up. He slowed down the whole world, so you could hear His still small voice. Because in today’s world we move so fast and can be so busy we can’t hear His voice over the sound of our earbuds, TVs, technology and everything else going on in our lives. So this week let’s wake up and look up and listen to His still small voice. He is asking do you know Him? If not click the link below.
This past week President Trump declared today a national day of prayer. We definitely need to pray with everything that is going on. Many of us are staying at home if we can to avoid getting sick and to keep others from getting sick. Even though we are at home we are still doing stuff and staying busy and distracted. But the best thing we can do is take what the Bible says in Psalms 46:10 “Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” and in John 15:5 I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. So we need to be alone with the Lord and connect to the vine, so we can abide in Him. I believe part of the reason God allowed this virus to circulate is so we have nothing to do and we have to slow down. And look to Him because we can’t hear Him over the sound of us coming and going, sometimes it feels like we are going to meet ourselves coming and going. We need to stop and listen to His voice. And look to Him to be our shelter in this confusing time, where there are so many rumors going around about all the things going on in the world. There is lots of fear, we need to have a healthy fear of what is going on around us. Just enough fear to be prepared and to avoid putting ourselves and others in harm’s way. We should use this time to get so close to God that we can feel the beat of His heart and where his heart leads us to follow. You are here for a purpose and when you start to follow Him, you can see your purpose for being here. The things we are worried about were not in His original plan, all of these things are a result of the fall of man in Genesis 3. Everything after Genesis 3 is a story of redemption and how He is going to save us and fix this broken world. He created us to have a relationship with Him, not to run around and never give Him any thought in our everyday life. He doesn’t want to just be a Sunday morning thing or an emergency lifeline, He wants to guide you throughout every day. This week let’s pray and grow close to Him, so close you can feel the beat of His heart. Let’s get alone to pray to the Lord today and all this week so we can know what He is doing in our world and so we can pray that our nation can get through this as a nation under God.
This week let’s start off with some verses, “Seek the Lord while he may be found; call upon him while he is near; let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the Lord , that he may have compassion on him, and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord . For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. Isaiah 55:6-9 I believe we have such a narrow point of view and we cannot see that God is right there with us, guiding us. Your thoughts can be strategically placed by God, so that we can become the man or woman He wants us to be. When He brings someone to your mind, He may be prompting you, so you should call or text to see if there is a need. When He prompts us to do something we need to do it. Because He is right there beside you and He has prepared a plan for you. He has a plan for this world and He wants to use you in His bigger story. He is always by our side, but we need to walk in the way of the Lord. He will protect us as we talked about last week. We need to be people who live a life that would please Him. You should pursue His plan for both your life and His plan for the world. So this week let’s remember that He sees the beginning and the end and yet He still chooses to be with us on a daily basis. So let’s try to stop having such a narrow point of view and see that God is writing a bigger story. You are not the main character of the story Jesus is and you are here to get to know Him and to tell others about Him.
Let’s start off with a verse this week, You are a hiding place for me; you preserve me from trouble; you surround me with shouts of deliverance. Selah Psalms 32:7 This is a verse by David, it was probably written when David was being chased by Saul. He was sacred for his life and he said that God was his hiding place. In today’s world we need a hiding place that we can go to be with Him and to get away from this hostile world. To allow us to be encouraged by God through His word and through prayer. With everything going on in the world, the election in the United States, the virus and all the other worries, we definitely all need God’s encouragement. We need to remember that He’s got the whole world in His hands, even when all that flies through the air shows us everything bad going on 24/7.That He’s got you in His hands and He will preserve you for His will. He has a plan for you. He wants you to find your secret place to be with Him where you get away from everything and everyone. “”Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!”” Psalms 46:10 So that you can be encouraged by God and lean on Him. You can have more strength to take all that the world throws at you and resist evil. Just remember the devil doesn’t have control over your life, you don’t have to worry about the virus or anything else that the world can do to you. So this week don’t fear because of everything going on, find a secret place to be with the Lord. Know whatever happens the Lord will be with you, He will keep you in His hands and in His presence. When we see His face we will raise a shout of praise to Him and none of the earthly problems that we faced will matter.
